Often called Zebra Feldspar, this mineral is a variety of orthoclase or microcline feldspar with embedded smoky quartz or other silicate inclusions. Its name comes from the striped or mottled appearance, not from any connection to true moonstone (which is a plagioclase feldspar). Despite the trade name, Zebra Moonstone holds its own as a grounding and visually striking mineral.
